Yvonne & Peter 14th April 2020

Peter wanted to me to make sure I shared this anecdote concerning his time in the Scouts gang shows and had kindly marked the paragraph! This is passage from the book "Ralph Reader Remembers" "On another occasion I was going out front to the Box Office and saw half a dozen of our younger members in the lobby looking at the pictures of the show. Now I always told them they were NEVER to go out front. I was standing at the top of the stairs leading into the theatre and to make matters worse they decided not to go around to the stage door but to go through the theatre. This was unheard of. In a line they advanced toward the steps and then they saw me standing at the top glaring at them. Any other kids in the world would have stopped and retreated. Not this lot. They marched towards me and as they got level, the front lad looked at me, flipped his lapel and said "Press!" And on the went. I said nothing, for a crack like that deserved to win." No prizes for who "the front lad" was!
